Pedro is flying to Philly today(Tuesday) to take a physical and if all goes well he will probably be signing with the Phillies Wednesday.

So the market for Snell is dwindling...

So is the market for Doc Halladay.

Wouldn't surprise me if they got them both.

I'd be a little surprised if the Phils signed Pedro and traded for Doc. Unless JA Happ is part of the deal for Doc.

The phillies are going to really regret this move, if they actually do sign him.
When is the earliest possible day that he would be able to pitch for them. Aren't they looking for starters that could come in right NOW, and pitch?
Would he do a rehab in the minors?, or brought straight up to the team?. Can't think they would put him right on the ML roster, but i am not Ruben Amaro, Junior.
I gotta believe the Phillies are kind of in a panic mode, not sure why they feel they need to take a chance with a washed up guy like Martinez. With that lineup , they can average 7 runs a game, so the pitching doesn't have to be that great.
curious to see what his actually salary will be. I am sure his contract must be loaded with incentives.
I kind of root for the Phillies, when playoff time comes around, i just hope this move doesn't come back and bite them in the ASS, and prevent them from attempting to acquire some pitching from the Pirates , mainly Ian Snell.

Rumors coming from the nY post say that Snell is drawing interest from the Yankees. Can we see a big market bidding war for this guy?, that would be nice, but unfortunately is just wishful thinking.
Get rid of this guy now, before he bombs in his next minor league start.
You all know it is only a matter of time before it happens.

If Pedro signs, they figure 2 or 3 weeks in the minors is what he's going to need...Early August to the Majors for him is the target

So aren't the Phillies in need of starting pitching now?
They feel they have the luxury to keep him in the minors till august?
I guess it is all moot , until they actually do sign him.
We shall just wait and see.

Ian Snell pitching for the Yankees? What could possibly go wrong with that? No negativity in NY.

I hear their bosses are very even-handed and not impulsive at all.

And the NY press and fans are very tolerant and forgiving of a bad performance.

But Posada....he's no Eric Kratz...

It's official the Phillies have signed Pedro to a 1-year deal.

Plus there are no distractions in NYC, nothing to take his focus off of baseball, 24X7. We certainly won't have to worry about any of this going on...
