Puzzling to me, but Buster Olney says the Braves have SS Yunel Escobar on the trading block. He is hitting .293 and has some pretty good pop in his bat. What's confusing is the Braves want a bat in return, possibly a SS. Huh?

ESPN's Buster Olney wrote last week that the Braves were willing to trade Yunel Escobar for a bat. The Atlanta Journal Constitution added that the Braves were trying to make a move for the shortstop while also raising the possibility that Atlanta would consider trading Javier Vazquez.

Buster's blog details six possible suitors for the Braves: Red Sox, Royals, Brewers, Twins, Dodgers and Athletics.

I've read that Escobar is a bit of a diva, so maybe the Braves are hoping to deal him to a contending team that doesn't care about behavioral problems in the short term. I have no idea what kind of return they'll get though...I'd think that any team that has a decent SS isn't going to trade with them.
