Chuck Tanner has said that you're going to basically win one third of your games and lose one third of your games. It's your performance and record in the last 1/3 of your games that separates the contenders or successful teams from the teams with losing records.

If you believe that, I think I do, then was the Saturday night 7/4/09 game against the Marlins one of those games? I think it was: Marlins 5 Pirates 3.

Until the Pirates start winning more of those games that they "should have won", then they will continue to remain under .500 and not be real contenders.

Until the Pirates put a good team on the field they will continue to remain under .500 and not be real contenders. And I don't think this team is very good and changes need to be made (Like signing Sano no matter what) We need to stock great players in the minors, but until they get called up the pirates should raise the payroll by 10-20 milion and put a better team on the field until the minor leauge players are ready.

That says it all.

But once again it makes me think of Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront.
