Sitting in a room here in Selma, Alabama compiling notes on an industrial accident and have some time to catch up on the news via my Blackberry.

Anything brewing on offers to Sano?

If it turns out that Miguel Angel Sano is just 16 look for the Orioles to compete with the Twins and Pirates for his services. Baltimore could out-bid the others, but doesn't have the same personal relationship with the Dominican shortstop.

Don't know if that means the O's are conducting their own, independent age study on Sano or not.

From Joge Arangure of ESPN Mag via Twitter:

Sano has yet to pass his age investigation, so he won't likely sign this week. Pirates, Twins, Orioles are faves

As an FYI - the signing period begins 7/2 and runs for approx 14 days.

First visit to Alabama. Tough accident. Injury worse that I envisioned. Nice guy. Right hand is now essentially useless; all four fingers cut off. Sad thing . . . . his work partner manually overrode a safety device so the machine could be restarted and the guy reached into the machine which has really, really sharp rotating blades. People here are very polite. The poverty in Selma is a bit overwhelming. The combination of this guy's lifelong disability and the poverty makes me appreciate how lucky I am . . .
