Chuch Finder pretty much says the error should be on Freddy not Jack. Twice in his article he puts the blame on Freddy.

Look, I think like everyone else that Jack Wilson is a great defensive ss. But folks, he made a bad throw and was credited with the error as he should have been. I don't understand the ability of people to overlook a bad play because they like a guy so much. Official scorers usually do the same thing. I think they got it right last night.

Thoughts?

Yeah it was Jack's error. They are just trying to push the blame away from him because as of right now he could be up for a gold glove for NL SS.

It was a throwing error by Jack. If Grabow came in and did his job in the first place, the Bucs wouldn't have been in that situation. To Grabow's credit, he came back and struck out two then got the third out with a ground ball to Freddy.

As a former SS and 2B, the error was on Jack because he is supposed to get the feed to Freddy chest high and in a position to make the turn. Freddy could have caught the ball but again Jack put a little extra on it, and a little to high.

It was a borderline call and definitely a catchable ball, but it was high enough that I would put the error on Jack.

Grabow did a great job getting out of that jam.

My question is whether there was even a play to be made at first. Bradley isn't exactly slow. The throw was plenty catchable for a force out at second. Freddy alligator armed it. So the real question, in my mind at least, is should the error be allocated in the context of a botched DP, or simply a force out at second?
