Tom Gorzellany is a left-handed Matt Morris right now. 85 mph fastball, nothing curve, terrible control, just terrible.

What the hell is going on with him this season? And no, it is not just one start - so far this horrid season, he has given up 37 walks, is not fanning anybody, the league is crushing him for an .850 OPS, and he has a 7.38 ERA.

Seriously, these are Matt Morris numbers.

Are there any respectable FA pitches available since there obviously isn't anything within our system? It's a quick fix and not going with the ideas of this current administration, but right now I'd like to see the Buccos stay competitive.

You want to see more of Van Benschoten?

Not that Gorzo is doing any better.

Yes. Can't be worse.

When a guy gives up 6 runs in the first inning of a game including a blast to DAVID ROSS, and on top of that has difficulty throwing a single strike, and this kind of stuff has been consistent, I wouldn't mind choosing another evil.

After reading several articles(one was posted on this board) in the offseason about Gorzo being an injury risk due to overuse by idiot Tracy last year it makes me wonder. Everyone is saying he is fine health wise but honestly...did he really forget how to pitch? Or is he hurting? Maybe that's an excuse, but it is worth considering....

According to MLB Gameday, he threw 26 fastballs last night, only three mangaed to reach 90+ mph (90, 90, 91). The rest were all in the 85 -89 mph range. His changeup was clocking around 82 mph. Pretty tough to keep hitters off balance when your change is almost as fast as your fastball. I didn't watch the game so I can't comment on his slider, but considering his fastball and change were pretty much one in the same, the slider's effectivness was probably greatly diminished.

Yes. Can't be worse.

Considering that Van Benschoten's career ERA is worse than Gorzo's 2008 ERA, I can't agree with that.

There is no shame in giving up a home run to David Ross. Hitting home runs is his only offensive skill. He averages 24 HRs every 162 games.
