DK reporting on his blog that Hinske is a Yankee. Jones promoted to replace him.

I like Hinske...but this deal I'd agree with. Let's have the younger guys up to get the experience. Hinske didn't really play very often anyway. Situational pinch hitter...he did make a nice throw this weekend though.

This is the worst day ever. Nutting needs to go away. More profit for Bob. Hinske was an important piece of our contending this year.
There did I cover everything? Can we not have this huge thread tearing apart this deal now?

Well, the Garret Jones Fan Club now gets its wish. I just hope that he can hit better than he did with the Twins.

I'd like to know something about the guys we got. It is surprising that they gave up two players (if they are) for a bench player who was getting less and less time as more outfielders performed and LaRoche started doing his thing. Must be a good deal and Hot hitting Jones is coming up to add to the mix- much younger.

EDIT: Actually, I'll correct myself. Erickson looks like he could be helpful in the future, although he's a bit old for his level. Fryer, on the other had, looks destined for "organizational" status.

It is kinda strange that we got two prospects out of this. Even if they are both 23 years old at A ball, I don't care. We may never hear there names again and it was still an okay deal.

Hinski was definitely a rent-a-player good for one year only. Maybe they others won't be any good but Jones needed a path up to show off his hitting in AAA. Not bad at all.

I think this is addition by sub traction.

Hinske was a supposed POWER bat for this team, yet he had a total of 1 hr.
He seemed like a decent team guy, but if the team is looking for cheer leaders, hire some hotties to sit in the dug out, not an over weight bench player.

I have been calling for recalling Jones for awhile now.
I think now, the La Roche feelers are going to be put out in force now, and when it happens, Jones will get steady ab's unless he proves he does not deserve them, just as Moss has shown.
Good move by the Pirates, hope this pitcher they acquired can keep developing and amount to something.

Next guy i hope they ditch is Snell.

Not a great move not a bad move. It probably won't have much effect on either team. But we do get jones up which is a huge plus.

I like this pitcher we got. Interestingly, he was drafted a few round before Dan McCutchen. He has solid K to walk ratios even though he gives up quite a bit of hits. On paper, it looks good.

Looks like Delwyn and An LaRoches development has made him expendable.

Maybe now its Moss as the everyday RF - with a leash - and Delwyn to fill in.

Doesn't Jones give you a 1b backup as well?

Salary dump.

Oh wait, the Nuttings are paying $400,000 of his remaining $800,000.

Cheap bastards. 8-)

Nothing but positives from this deal. Looking forward to seeing Jones. We need to find somebody who can put the ball over the fence once in a while.

I like this deal. It was better than releasing Hinske. We needed to make room for Garrett Jones, he is a beast and Triple-A wasn't enough for him anymore.
Also JimY i hope this comment above from you was a joke. Hinske meant nothing to this team and Garrett Jones was being held down because of him.
