I was thinking does anybody else think the Pirates have the most focus on their Double-A team more than any other major league ball club at this time?

Our future is mostly in Double-A right now, and i have gone through most club's minor league sites and the focus seems to be more on Triple-A with them, while ours lies in Double-A.

Can anybody think of another team that has their franchise focused in Double-A more than the Pirates?

I honestly don't follow minor leagues enough to know. However, the trend in baseball overall has been to have the majority of your best prospects at AA and AAA more of a "bull pen" for your major league overflow. This has become even more pronounced in recent years where the major league teams own or invest in the minor league teams and control them even more.

That's very different then 20 years ago when AAA was "prospect heavy". That's probably not what you were looking for but I bet Curveradio would have some more insight on this.

Most team's futures are at Double-A. Triple-A usually has some prospects, but usually it is a mix of 4-A guys, career minor leaguers and prospects. IMO, Double-A determines your fate as a baseball player.

AA is the big tester Colin. Separates the men from the non men...well you know what I mean. Pretenders need not apply unless they are Chrissie Hynde.

That bring me back to what i was thinking at the begining. Do you think any other team is going through a bigger testing period at Double-A right now than us?
