Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto(notes) says he is embarrassed after testing positive for marijuana at this year’s World Baseball Classic.

Soto says he will accept any consequences for his mistake. The Cubs released a statement during Thursday’s 6-5 loss at Detroit saying they were unhappy about the news. The Cubs also said it was the first positive drug test of Soto’s career.

Soto was chosen as the National League Rookie of the Year last season after hitting .285 with 23 home runs. He represented Puerto Rico at the World Baseball Classic, which was held before this season started.

Looks like he will not be suspended by MLB. I am confused by this compared to the Manny Ramirez suspension. Did Manny have a prior offense and is that why he was given a suspension? Or maybe since tokin' the cheeba is not considered a performance enhancing activity, that is why Soto is not suspended? The drug policy confuses me.

Marijuana is the most confusing to me, because some sports leagues allow it and some don't.

I would find it very hard to believe that pot was a performance-enhancing drug.

There will be an investigation on Kobayashi anytime now.

Okay, this is the time that I am sorry our board does not have those "karma" points for posts that are above and beyond the call of duty.

Dan ... Sosa tested positive for chronic, and you bring in competitive eating. Classic. One of the better posts, ever.
