Rudy made his first all star game and the Pirates are not letting him participate, they are also pushing back his next start to 7 days from now which would be 12 days rest. Seems like they are either preparing to move him up or really babying his arm. What do you guys think about this move?

Welcome AZPirateguy.
He also pitched 5 no hit innings with 9 K's his last time out.
I don;t know if you are aware of it, but he was signed during the last year of the JUCO draft and follow rule.
Where do you live here in the valley?

My family and I lived in Phoenix for 2 years in the mid to late 80's...then moved back to PA...I was 8 or 9 then...

Hoping if all works out well that I'll be out in the fall for a vacation...I have an aunt who lives in Scottsdale, a friend of mine (old high school girlfriend) moved out there for a job as a Speech Pathologist, and I want to make a visit to Joshua Tree, California to see Gram Parsons...

I am from Tucson. He has really been dominating lately and now the next article says that they will be limiting his innings in the second half and thats why he is not playing tonight. For some reason they took him out of the game on Sunday through 5 PERFECT innings after only 53 pitches. I thought it might be to save him to be ready for tonight but that was not the case apparently. I am confused with where they are going with this whole thing...

I will be out in your fair state next week for a family vacation to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. I was in Phoenix for the Steelers/Cardinals game and then drove around Souther AZ a few years back. AZ is a beautiful state and am looking forward to returning.

Welcome to the board! My ex-wife and mother-in-law live in Casa Grande. I'm avoiding them for the rest of my days. My family did visit the Grand Canyon when I was fifteen. Truly amazing!! We didn't go inside though. :(

If it is of any comfort, Casa Grande is not exactly a garden spot.

Welcome AZ part deaux.

They pull all their pitchers on strict pitch counts. It doesn't matter the game condition. Two coaches last year were docked pay because they let a pitcher go too long.

Not unusual nor unfair.

My wife and I traveled west last spring, and spent five days in Arizona. We were in the north, from Flagstaff and surrounding area. No further south then Sedona.

Beautiful state. Grand Canyon needs to be seen, mountains and canyons are neat as is the red rock ares. Very nice but in the end we both really appreciated our hills and trees when we drove back home.

Oh yes, there is something to be said for greenery and water in the rivers. I leave for a dive meet in Beaverton, Oregon, a Portland suburb, in two weeks and am looking forward to it. I have never been to the Pacific Northwest.

Oh, Az, be absolutley sure to find time to make the drive to Mt. Hood, and then back along the Columbia River. Spectacular. Just spectacular.

Az sounds great-- we are planning to fly to Seattle next spring and then traveling south back to Vegas. When you return, maybe you can tell me the sites you enjoyed the most. Thanks in advance and enjoy.

My daugther dove in the junior nationals in Beaverton, Oregon 9 years ago or so. The dive facility is an indoors pool. The weather was extraordinary during our stay, and I told the clerk at the hotel that this was some of the most beautiful weather I had experienced. She said, "yeah, it is for one month out of the year."

I would love to see some of the sights. Unfortunately, dive meets and sight seeing do not really go hand in hand. With practices and events it boils down to airports, restaurants, hotels and pools. Bucfan can attest to that. I am going to check out an NAIA school for No. 1 that is located in Portland.
