There's some rumblings the Pirates are promoting Alvarez along with a few others to AA Altoona.

Not sure if curveradio can confirm or not.

Hmmm, boxscore of Sunday's Lynchburg game shows he didn't play. So, maybe, Eric.

FWIW, I listened to the live broadcast of Saturday night's game via computer, and he did play then, going 0-for-4 and bringing his recent hitting streak to a halt.

No i don't think he was banned, because when somebody gets banned their account still appears in the members lists. His name isn't even in there anymore.

Management may have banned him and deleted his account.

I know Alex P. Keaton was banned and his account was deleted, but he still appears in the members list.

I'm excited to see Hernandez, Tabata, and Alvarez in the lineup...Pedro might be get nice chances to drive in runs as it seems Hernandez and Tabata are starting to heat in up...

Good news that they are comfortable moving him up already. And that is an impressive trio isn't it Dan?

Add that to that list of Brian Friday, Jason Delaney and Jim Negrych...There is some offensive potential there

Just as importantly, they promote a couple of pitchers, Dubee included. And, an All Star outfielder after his appearance.

From what curve has said, those pitchers could be as important to the curve as anything.

Alvarez in 2010
Thinking NH will break from his master plan, just a tad, for 2010
To keep the fan’s interested, and hopefully showing up at the park, Alvarez will be a starting member of the Pirates this time next year. Either as a 1st basemen, or the right fielder.
The suit’s would probably like to give him more time in the minors, but Public Relations has taken a hit over the last first 2 years of the NH/FC experiment.

If the Pirates are going to lose, in their opinion, they are gonna tank with the future.
Like Longoria, Alvarez(and possibly Tabata) will be full time members of the team as soon as their respective super 2 label expires.

You watch and see, the Pirates are gonna steer a little bit off course, but are going to draw alot of interest locally, especially if these new guys can produce

I agree. I also think that it likely signals some very unpopular trades to come. My concern is that Andy has been so good that I think he has essentially earned 3rd base moving forward unless things change dramatically.

I don't think you guys have any clue.

Alvarez hit .247 in A ball and you have him in the majors in 9 months. And there has never been any talk of him playing the outfield.

Current management has shown no inclination to rush players to the majors, nor have they shown that "keeping the fans interested" is a significant factor in their player development strategy.

They arent going to let the fans' reactions make them change their plans...

They're keeping the bandwagon warm for the ride to the playoffs...

Think you may be the clueless one.
If this purging of veterans and soon to be free agents continue, who is going to step in and play?
Are they going back to the Littlefield plan and rent 1 year free agents to hold the fort until these guys are supposedly ready?
No, i don't thing they will drive take that path again.
I don't care what Alvarez is hitting in 2 months of minor league ball. It is the rest of the season that will judge when he comes to the big club. I mentioned that, but i guess your clue less ness forgot to include that.

There is approx. 3 months left of the minor league season, maybe they send him to winter ball, which would give him another month of playing and learning a new position.

Maybe it won't be right field, maybe it will be.
I just got to believe the team is quite happy with the defense and overall game of Andy La roche as the 3rd baseman,(just like anyone who watches the club on a daily basis , like myself). Since La roche is going to be here for awhile, Alvarez is going to need a different position.
Like i said, if he keeps progressing, he will be a fixture on the team by this time next year.
We will see who is clueless then, besides yourself.
