...homered again, giving him 10 for the season. With Moss and Monroe not doing much up here, why not demote the former, release the latter, and bring up Pearce and Jones? I don't think Pearce has much left to prove at AAA, and actually seemed to get his power stroke at the very end of the season last year. We could sure use him against lefties in right or to spell Adam.

BTW, how great would it be to be Joe Mauer right now? The ball must look like a beachball coming in right now. .430-Sheesh!!

Moss does not have options left. He would be picked up by someone else.

Keep Moss and release Monroe anyway...

If Pearce would come up he needs to keep somewhat busy getting some regular playing time each week and not sitting rotting away on the bench 5 days a week...

I think Hinske is the only player out of place, and i wouldn't bring Pearce up, instead i would bring up Garrett Jones. He has a good mix of power and speed and i think he could fit in better than Pearce right now.

Except that, if Monroe is released, we would be pretty left-handed on the bench with Jones. Darn shame Moss is out of options. He actually hit better last summer. More pop. He's just flat out anemic right now.

I said the same thing. Moss was better last year when we first got him. He had power, what happened to that. I will be really mad though if we release Monroe. I think he is a decent bat off the bench.

If someone is foolish enough to claim him , by all means they can have him
Moss i meant to say.
I am not sure what the rules are pertaining to waiver claims, but could the Pirates PULL HIM BACK,(i remember hearing that term for certain players in the past), i just don't understand how that works.

Can Moss be put on waivers than pulled back, if someone nibbles?. If so, if a team wants him, i am sure they could work out a deal and cut the ties with this clown.

He is not a major league ball player, except for playing right field, he shows me nothing.

Don't give me the upside potential, he doesn't have it, i don't care if Houdini works with his swing, his most useful at bat in the last 2 weeks was a HBP.

I have to think he still has value to us. He does still have upside and i believe that because we saw a better player at the end of last year than we have this year. There is a decent player still in him.

You are referring to revocable waivers. Any player with a major league contract (i.e., a player on the 40-man roster) can be put through revocable waivers.

The Pirates don't need to do anything just yet. Having a couple of guys ready in AAA is a good thing. We are likely to need them next month when the trades start happening.

Personally I am intrigued by Jones. I would like to see what he can do at the MLB level.
