Quote:
Sammy Sosa(notes) became the latest in a string of baseball stars implicated in the sport’s steroids scandal of the past decade when The New York Times reported that he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in 2003.

The Times said Sosa is one of 104 players who tested positive in baseball’s anonymous 2003 survey, which has been the subject of a protracted court fight. The paper did not identify the drug.

Quote:
Sosa sat alongside Rafael Palmeiro, Canseco and McGwire at a 2005 hearing before Congress and testified: “To be clear, I have never taken illegal performance-enhancing drugs.”

“I have never injected myself or had anyone inject me with anything,” he told the House Government Reform Committee on March 17, 2005. “I have not broken the laws of the United States or the laws of the Dominican Republic. I have been tested as recently as 2004, and I am clean.”

Of course this is the best part of the article...

Quote:
“To just speculate from an era of how many years it was of who did and didn’t do what, it’s impossible,” Cubs general manager Jim Hendry said before Tuesday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox was rained out. “It’s just time to put that whole era behind us and move on.”

In other "breaking" news.. the sun rose from the east this morning..

In all seriousness, the thing that pisses me off to no end is the fact that Selig and the rest of his ass-clown cronies knew about steroids in the game during that memorable summer and didn't do anything about it. Like nobody wasn't going to find out..

Yowzie. I've always considered Bud to act like this, when he wasn't looking too constipated to be a Commish.

I think about all the times a game turned around due to a home run by McGwire, Canseco, Sosa, Giambi, Caminiti, Luis Gonzalez, Brady Anderson, and on and on, and I get really miffed.

These guys were illegally obtaining and/or using PED's, gaining a clear advantage in the process by enhancing muscle development and recovery turn-around, and stained the game with their cheating.

I have to say the Sosa/Mcgwire race was still a great year for baseball, even after all the stuff came out about steriods i still think that.
