Snell in CO? That sounds ugly. I think that would have to be a part of a package.

Well i don't think we will be able to land Eric Young or Carlos Gonzalez, so i think i would like this guy they have in Low A Kiel Roling.

What else would the Rockies want from our major league roster?
They have Helton at 1st, Barmes and Stewart at 2nd, Tolowitzki at SS, and i don't think we would be trading anymore of our outfield. If anything maybe they would be interested in Grabow, because they could use some bullpen help.

My thought here was that Snell doesn't strike me as having value by himself. However, with SP being at such a premium maybe he is worth an 2nd tier prospect. I know nothing about the Rockies prospects.

What would trading Snell say about this year? Who would replace him?

Karstens?

My guess is they have been pleased with Gorzo's progress and what I saw of Morton, I think he is as good as Snell without the baggage. I have no idea what Snell would be worth, but I'm guessing the Pirates will look for more "depth", so he probably brings more than one player.

I don't think we have a chance to get him or Eric Young. If we could land one of those 2 for Snell that would be one of the best deals we have ever made.

Hope for Kiel Roling, Carlos Gonzalez, or Eric Young then. Those are the 3 i like. I don't think we stand a chance at landing Gonzalez or Young though.

If Snell is traded don't expect much in return. Just be happy to be rid of $5 million salary.

You underestimate... not Snell, my friend... but the need for SP in this league right now.

Snell has been a pretty good starter at times with, sometimes, dominant stuff. He is a hard luck pitcher who some desparate for SP may look at as simply needing a new venue.

Good points ZM, buuuuut his contract is high enough to perhaps reduce any real return value. Plus it's being reported that interested parties are looking to make him a reliever. This may be bargaining ploy, but the fact that they can do so reduces NH's leverage. I mean it's doubtful that a team looking to acquire Maholm could get away with the "reliever" tactic, but they can with Snell.

While I understand why some teams might think that Snell is better suited as a reliever, my initial thoughts to that idea are: (1) he has a $0.02 head which, IMO, wouldn't serve him well coming in to put out fires; and (2) Snell struggles early in games until he "figures" it out and finds his groove for the night.

Personally, if JR told Snell that he was moving him to the bullpen and he had to pitch a la Gorzellany, I think Snell's head would explode. But . . . I might be wrong on that.

i also would be fine with trading Snell. The return needs to continue the trend of stocking the minor leagues. Automatically, we tend to think of the major league team NOW, and forget it's about the future.

Trade him alone or with Grabow to anyone for prospects who can project to help us in a couple years.

His head will continue to be a problem. Let Tracy have that again, he deserves it.

I heard this rumor on KDKA and they named a web source....somehting to do with "inside sports". I have tried to find the link, but haven't been able to. Anyone know where the story came from?

John Perrotto: http://insidepittsburghsports.com/story ... ell/12665/

Take it for what it is worth. Me . . . same old, same old when it comes to trade rumors. Lots and lots and lots of smoke . . . rarely a fire.

I'd like to see this happen. I've pulled for Ian for a long time and the consistency just doesn't look like it will ever happen. A couple of minor league prospects would be fine w/me.
