Okay, with the draft still fresh in our minds....

Since the start of the June Amateur Draft in 1965, what 5 Pirate draftees made it to the majors the fastest from the date of their draft, until their major league debut?"

You're killing me with these, lol.

I'm only going to guess one. Milt May. Then I'll pretend that I know the other four, but that I'm generously leaving them so that others can have a shot at guessing them.

I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of them debuted between 71 and 75, though.

SORRY!

Milt May was NOT a #1 draft pick, but an 11th round draft pick in 1968...but he did debut in September of 1970...just two years and three months later. OUr #1 draft pick that year (and 9th overall) was pitcher Dick Sharon...who was traded in 1972 to the Tigers...and never played for Bucs. He made his major league debut May 13, 1973.

And actually, none of the 10 quickest to make their major league debuts were between 71 and 75...which is probably because we actually had a bunch of good players then!

Dave Parker, believe it or not, was a 14th round draft pick, not a first, in 1970. He slipped that low because he was also a football and basketball star, and it was widely believed he would go with one of those sports. He did, however, make it to majors about 3 years and 1 month after being drafted.

Benson is #5 on the list. He was drafted 06/04/96 and made his major league debut 04/09/99...2 years, 10 month, and 5 days after being drafted.

King is 6th on list. Drafted 06/02/86 Debuted 06/02/89. Exactly three years.

Come on, the #1 guy should be very easy.

Not sure if you are serious or trying to be funny, but our 1999 #1 pick (and 8th in the nation) never made it to majors.

YEP
Obviously #1 on the list. Drafted June 3, 1985. Major league debut May 30, 1986. Four days shy of a year!

Well i got Bonds, Benson, Maholm, and for some reason even though he didn't have a long or great stay i will say Bryan Bullington. I can only think of those 4. I know Bonds is #1.

Bullington is not in the top 10.

Damn.
I'll go with Andrew McCutchen and John VanBenschoten, and if not either of them i would say Willie Greene. I think Willie made it up fast for some reason, but i don't know if it was faster than Andrew McCutchen and John VanBenschoten.

I think i am wrong. It think it dates back further. Like the 60's and 70's. If i am right about that Animal i think i know who 2 others are.
Also who has been established besides Bonds?

Greene would be 11th on the list, but he made it with Cinncy not the Bucs. He was traded for Zane Smith. JVB is #9 3 years, 2 months, and 13 days. Cutch is not in top 11.

You didn't specify number 1 picks in your original question.
