Known for his glove or lack thereof? OK, think I got one although I'm surprised and would NEVER have gotten it without the clue: Dick "Dr. Strangeglove" Stuart?

I figured Craig, because of his limited playing time early on...plus he has or had the 2nd most HR's hit at PNC Park

Top 3 I'd say is Kiner, Giles, and Stargell...

The other 2 have to be OFer's or 1st basemen...but I have no clue...

KINER-GILES-STARGELL are 1-2-3

I think they have to be one's who only played a few seasons with the Pirates...

Could John Vanderwal be one?
Reggie Sanders? Matt Stairs?

Minimum requirement of 1500 ABs...so all those guys are out.

Incidentally though, Sanders, in just one year with the Bucs, hit a dinger ever 14.61 ABs, which would put him 2nd on the list if he had about three times as many at bats.

Stairs hit one every 17.85, which would be good for 5th, and Vander Wal, one every 19.91, which would put him at 7th.

But none of those three have the required 1500 ABs as a Bucco.

Damn, I'm good today...too bad for the 1,500 AB rule...

I did say BECAUSE of his glove...not FOR his glove.

Good Pickup Argentum...but actually Kevin The Bucco said Stuart earlier and I somehow missed him.

So Stuart is 4th.

Okay, the last guy is not so well-known. I actually have heard the name in Pirate history but cannot tell you much about him. He was an OF...4 1/2 seasons as a Buc....late 40s, early 50's. Hit some HR for the Bucs, but not a lot after leaving the Pirates.

Doh, always a bridesmaid!

Absolutely positively no idea about the other player. Even with the clues. I'll leave it to the old timers.

OF'er who played in the 1940's and 50's ... hit HR's for the Buccos. At least 1500 at bats. Okay. I freaking give up. I have no clue, and will take myself out of the running by googling this thing.

Okay, I cheated. I would not have guessed this player in a month of guessing. Never would have got this guy.

Me either...should we just give the answer?? Does anybody want it, or should we let it keep going??

One more hint ... in the movie "Vacation" (great movie), the Griswold family was going to visit his world.

Westlake, in fact, played for the Pirates from 1947 through part of 1951, hitting 97 HR in 2,018 at-bats. By '56 he was all done, hitting just 30 more HR in stints with the Cardinals, Reds, Indians, and Orioles.

I started following the Pirates in '53 when a family from Pittsburgh moved in next door to mine in suburban Harrisburg and introduced me to the Bucs. Frankie Thomas quickly became my favorite player and it broke my heart when he was traded to the Reds, even though it brought back three key pieces for the pennant run in 1960: Harvey Haddix, Smoky Burgess, and Don Hoak. The '58 Bucs had Thomas (35 HR, 109 RBI), Mazeroski, Virdon, Skinner, Groat, Dick Stuart, Bob Friend, Vernon Law, Ronnie Kline, and Roy Face, and it was easy to see they were going to be something special.

Ah, the memories.

Thomas trade was a salary dump of the highest order ...

Who are the Top 10 Pirates all time, in At Bats Per Home Run?

Love the trivia questions, Animal, but my god! TEN?

LOL.

Assuming that there is some minimum number of at bats involved, here is my guess (in no particular order)

Ralph Kiner
Willie Stargell
Dick Stuart
Hank Greenberg (if one season is enough to qualify for the list)
Dale Long
Frank Thomas
Barry Bonds
Brian Giles
Jason Bay
Bob Robertson

Probably way off on a few of those.
