In no order, but probably Kiner, Stargell, Bonds, Giles, Bay, Craig Wilson, Bob Robertson, Frank Thomas...

Thats 8, that I'm pretty certain are in the top 10

WOW! That is pretty good. I thought it would be more difficult. I figured that Craig Wilson would be a tough one! Okay group, let's come up with the other two, and at least try to get the top 3 in order!

Dan has put up a good list and I will agree with his 8. Bob Robertson hit a bunch of HR's in limited AB's. He is a very good candidate for this list. Frank Thomas is the only one I am not sure about.

As for the last two ... Richie Hebner hit some HR's and his AB's were low because he drew walks. I am going with Hebner. Also, Dave Parker had some down years, but his HR production was very high. He was not a guy who hit a HR every 20 AB's, but we are talking just about top ten here.

I therefore go with Dan's top 8, plus Hebner and Parker.

His 8 were correct. Parker and Hebner were both great guesses, but neither one is in the top 10!

Parker actually ranks 20th with a HR every 29 at bats.

Hebner is 24th with a HR every 30.4 ABs.

Some other interesting tidbits.

The last two guys we are looking for are ranked 4th and 9th...so we are overlooking a pretty good one, who hit a HR in 17 ABs. There is a minimum of 1500 at bats for this, so it is not some guy who hit a bunch in a season or two.

A few guys NOT in the top 10.

11) Bill Robinson HR every 22.48 ABs
12) Jason Thompsoon
13) Nate McLOuth
14) BObby Bonilla
15) ARam

I am mystified now ... listing the guys who are NOT candidates has caused me more confusion. Geez, somebody who hit a HR every 17 AB's and he has not been listed? I am wracking my brain right now.

John Milner? No, can't be. Donn Clendennon? Did not hit enough HR's. Players from the 1930's through the early 1960's? I cannot think of anybody besides Kiner, who is already on the list.

From the 1960's? Stargell ... already on the list. Clemente? No. He hit HR's once every 30 at bats or so.

From the 1970's? Parker, Robinson - no. Stargell - already there. Madlock - no way. Great, great hitter, never hit more than 19 HR's in any one season.

Okay, Milner and Clendennon ... I believe I am wrong, but I am confooosed here.

Dan listed Giles and Animal noted that Dan's list is 100% correct, if slightly incomplete.

By the way, great job, Dan. Getting Bob Robertson and Craig Wilson was commendable.

I figured Craig, because of his limited playing time early on...plus he has or had the 2nd most HR's hit at PNC Park

Top 3 I'd say is Kiner, Giles, and Stargell...

The other 2 have to be OFer's or 1st basemen...but I have no clue...

At the risk of looking stoopid, Kevin Young had to have had more than 1500 ABs and he did hit some dingers.

I checked after posting the last response, not looking good. Young was about 1 every 27 ABs.

I think they have to be one's who only played a few seasons with the Pirates...

Could John Vanderwal be one?
Reggie Sanders? Matt Stairs?

NO and NO

Clendennon is 28th on the list, hitting a HR (as a Buc) once every 33.22 at bats.
Milner hit a HR every 27.73 AB with the Bucs (which would put him at 17th, but he only had 943 ABs as a Buc, not the minimum required 1500.

Clemente, incidentally, is 34th on the list, with a HR every 39.39 ABs.

OKAY, a hint...the guy ranked 4th, who hit a HR every 17.22 at bats as a Buc is probably most well known for something to do with his glove!

Minimum requirement of 1500 ABs...so all those guys are out.

Incidentally though, Sanders, in just one year with the Bucs, hit a dinger ever 14.61 ABs, which would put him 2nd on the list if he had about three times as many at bats.

Stairs hit one every 17.85, which would be good for 5th, and Vander Wal, one every 19.91, which would put him at 7th.

But none of those three have the required 1500 ABs as a Bucco.
