Well, Young's bat is back in the lineup which is good. I'm tired of hearing "if only his defense would improve" he would get more playing time. Well.......how can he improve if he doesn't play more!

Every Pirate needs to contribute to the Offense.

Other than a fat pitch to the one dimensional Thames, Duke looks sharp through two innings. Of course that could be because 2/3 of Detroit's line-up blows, moreso than our worst 2/3. Contain Mags, Cabrera and Inge.........

LaRoche Sr. goes yard tie game 1-1.

Big 2nd inning. Should Cutch have been sent home from first on Morgan's double? I'll say 'no', Galarraga was on the ropes, stop at third.

Did Jaramillo project to hit in the majors? He has sure been consistent.

It's early, but so far JJ for Paulino is a steal (no pun intended).

Jaramillo and Diaz have filled in as good as anyone could have expected losing Doumit...

It sure makes the idea of moving Doumit to another position seem like a possibility...

I'd really like to keep all 3 bats on the 25 man roster when Doumit returns...

It was a salary dump...think of the money have Pirates have saved on meal money this season minus Paulino...

Interesting. The Pirates have scored eight runs and each one by a different position player.

WOW-- what's going on here? 2 home runs? AGrand Salami? When do I wake up and get disappointed?

Duke seems to be doing it again. He is really been consistant. Just what the doctor ordered.

Best moment of the night was when the 5 year old sitting in front of me called Sanchez's grand slam. I asked him for some lottery numbers after that.

He also did some heavy duty trash talking to a Detroit fan.

I don't know if it's Kerrigan or not, but if he is responsible for Duke's turn around, give him a BIG raise. When I was in Atlanta last week, I was at the park two hours before game time and Kerrigan and Karstens were the first guys on the field. Then I saw him working with Maholm an hour before the game, then in the pen during his warm ups. He really seems to be a hands on coach that takes his job seriously.

One thing he did with Maholm was interesting. He had a long piece of what looked like poster board. He was lying it at different angles and asking Maholm to make the ball cross that board. Paul nailed it almost every time. Is this a normal practice technique that I just haven't seen before?
