Well done Jason. For this Pirate team to be successful, they need Jason Bay. I couldn't be more happy for him.

Great bullpen pitching needs to also be recognized. Well done bullpen.

Bay has been on FIRE and I am very satisfied with this team's hitting right now. McLouth and Nady are still hot as ever, LaRoche and Bay stepping it up. Gomez has quietly contributed big time off the bench. Has to be encouraging with Jack and Doumit readying to return soon.

I have criticized Bay for not ever being a clutch hitter. He sure has been the last two games. Walk-off gamers are great and change your view of him. He's really in a zone now and I hope he (as usual for him) stays there for a while. Offense is much better then expected. I was surprised to here that he had never had a walk-off hit as a Pirate ever.

Now the starters. Maholm and to some degree Duke are doing ok now and look to stay solid. Our biggest problem is Gorzo ans Snell are not close to the pitchers we all know they can be. Bullpen is incredibly good this year. Hats off to them. Now if the other two come around, we could be a winner assuming the bats stay strong.

Wilson back should mean that Freddy gets to sit for a few games and rest his arm. We need him to return to himself.

Bay's BA has climbed to .290 and he now has 26 RBI's. McLouth and Nady each have 39 RBI's.

oops....I forgot again, those are meaningless stats........

I don't know if any stats could be produced to back it up but, to me, Snell seems to pitch better in warm weather.
I am more worried about Gorzo's arm, which I think (again) is suffering from the Tracy effect last season.

On a side note, I gather that Gonzo is due back for the Braves soon.

I admit, I've been a Bay "basher" for quite some time now. It's good to see he's finally playing some good ball. I was shocked to see the past two games were the first two walk-off hits in his career! And he is still only batting .200 with runners in scoring position so my frustration has been warranted!

I'd love to see a lineup with both Doumit and Wilson back. It could get interesting soon...
