It turned out to be a moot point, but I would have pinch ran for Diaz in the 9th. A single may have tied the game. We had Vazquez and Moss on the bench, even Craig Monroe might be a better choice...even Ian Snell.

Thoughts?

I was going to post the same thought but games on MLB.TV have a serious delay and I didn't want to come over here and find out how Jack did before watching it on TV. I thought that the lack of pinch runner was a seriously bad decision.

Glad you agree. I did not know what to think with the fact that nobody was responding one way or the other!

I generally do not have a problem with any decision by a manager, such as who goes in and when, etc, but here I thought he did NOT give us the best chance to win.

I have no opinion one way or the other since I was glued to the Pens game, but I have a hard time believing that Diaz wouldn't trounce Monroe in a foot race.

I was thinking the same thing. That jackass Russell just sits there and stares off into space. Moss or Vazquez should have been put in.

I wondered the same thing. Monroe had a couple decent years stealing bases...but he is older. But even still, there had to be better options than leaving Diaz in. Don't ya think?
