Man, McCutchen can fly! He looks like the real deal. I have to admit, I was a bit of a non-believer. I had seen him play a few times at Altoona, but was never really impressed. His minor league numbers, while good, never really stood out in my mind.

I am slowly jumping onto the Andrew McCutchen Bandwagon!

He is amazing. There really is no doubt. It's rare for someone to have this much impact in less than one week.

I'm a believer too...but keep in mind he's not going to keep up this torrid pace. He's going to be an excellent player just like he was at every level of the minors...but what he's doing right now is incredible...he's bound to come back to earth a bit.

No, you are wrong his pace will go up. His homeruns haven't even been hit yet and he does have 20 homerun potential in the future.

I think he means specifically the batting average.

He just seems to do everything well. Nate Who?

Don't diss Nate though. He was a great player to and we should of had them both in the lineup at some point. Dont see why we had to trade Nate to get Andrew up. I don't think the Nate deal return was great but it's a big plus to see McCutchen in action.

Ryann, your expectations for players are just not legitimate. McCutchen is hitting .405/.435/.591. Ted Williams could not maintain that pace.

With the exception of Nate, it's so nice to see a true CF and leadoff hitter. This team was disgraced by turds like Tike Redman, Adrian Assclown Brown and others. Hellllooooo!

Go Cutch!

Let's not forget the worst of the whole bunch. Chris "I quit on my team three times" Duffy!

We didn't. We traded Nate in order to strengthen the farm system.

hey...you forgot Chad Hermansen...
hello everyone. New to the board, not new to the Pirates. It was a bit difficult to watch Nate whup up on us last night...and hard not to pull for him. But yes Cutch looks like the real deal. I also liked the fact that he hit the cutoff man on the throw to the plate where he had no chance for Nate and the throw was cut to first for an inning ending out. Fundamentals like that have been missing in the outfield. Looks like it's second nature to him.

Welcome PL-- nice note to make your debut with.

He sure has started off with a bang. His feet will continue to amaze us but surely his bat will not stay this strong. He is a difference maker and is an important part of what we all are looking forward to.

Nate was not traded to make room for him. Nate was traded to improve the organization in strength going forward. But would not have been traded without Andrew being ready to jump into the light.

I'm a believer. It's not his numbers that I'm relying on, it's my own eyes. Sometimes you just see a player in action and the athleticism is as obvious as the nose on your face. This kid just has that "it" factor.

Give him two years and he'll be one of the best in the league.

Welcome to the board PL!

'Cutch brings an excitement to the game I haven't seen with the Pirates since the early 90's. It is great listening to the announcers call his AB's and hits...they love him!

On a side note, I went to Pirateball.com to purchase a McCutchen jersey last night and this morning but they still don't have him listed! :?: :!: They do, however, have Yates on there... :|

personally I'd rather see Chavez get those innings. Better command/control/consistancy. And I think his velocity hasn't reached it's peak either. Burnett, Chavez and Grabow are pretty strong in set up right now. And Matt looks like his elbow is none worse for wear.

They knew they were going to trade Nate at some point I guarantee it. That is how they were going to get Andrew in the majors. If that deal never went through Andrew would still be in AAA.
