Since you all say the goal of the Pirates is not .500, and that the team is stocking great talent in the minors what will happen in the 3-4 years it will take for this great talent to get to the big leagues? Will the team just wave the white flag for the next 3-4 years? I agree that the pirates have made SOME strides in the right direction but if they dont sign some free agents or move their talent through the minors quick there is no way they will have any success in the next 3-4 years. I think its pathetic for an organization to give up on that many seasons.

I see the Pirates trying to go the way of the Rays. 2 years ago who would have believed it would work out well for the Rays.

The Pirates dont really have the talent the rays had. We dont have crawfords or uptons or longorias. They had a much better core. And they struck gold in free agency with guys like carlos pena. Plus the pitching they developed is just plain scary with price and company. They also had kazmir.
I wish the pirates would turn out to be the rays but they dont compare at least not now.
