Good news on Bryan Morris. He made his first start for Lynchburg on Saturday, going 4 1/3 innings and giving up 4 runs in Lynchburg's 4-0 loss.

Meanwhile, Brad Lincoln continues his remarkably good performance over the past 6 weeks. He pitched on Saturday as well, going 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits, 1 walk, 8 K's and no runs. He had no decision, as Altoona continues its offensive problems. For the year, he has gone 64 2/3 innings, giving up just 50 hits, 15 walks, 60 K's, an opponent BA of just .215 and an ERA of 1.95. His record is just 1-3 due, once again, to Altoona's offensive shortcomings.

Over his past 34 innings, covering 5 starts, Lincoln has given up just 19 hits, 7 walks, 31 K's, while allowing a microscopic 3 earned runs for an ERA of 0.79. Unfortunately, he has just 1 win over those starts due to ... well, you get the point.

Lincoln should be in Triple-A as soon as possible.

Per DK this morning, Lincoln will likely be in AAA soon, possibly this week. Sweet!

Scary sentence from that Altoona Mirror article:
Quote:
Not since slugger Brad Eldred in 2005 have the Curve had one dominant player who was worth the price of admission as much as Lincoln.

Yikes! Let's hope this one turns out a bit better.

How is morris giving up 4 runs in 4..3 inning good news? This guy is supposed to be a stud but he isnt domininating or even managing single A hitters. Lincon should be in AAA but who knows managment could leave him down there for the rest of the year. The pirates need to get their top talent who perform well through the system faster.

I really cannot believe that I would need to explain this to you. Seriously.

I can't wait to see him there. I really want to see if he can tear up AAA.

Brad Eldred is a horrible person to compare him to. That's like saying Albert Pujols is as dominant to baseball as Hitler was to Germany.

Because it means that he's actually pitching.

This is his first start coming off of an injury. That's why it is big news that he is playing, even though he didn't play very well.

But it must be dissapointing coming off injury or not that means he didnt produce against very weak hitters. He also is pretty old isnt he? Like 22 23 24? So he is going against people his age or younger.

He just turned 22 in March. He's actually playing at a slightly advanced level (Lynchburg is High A) relative to his age.

For God's sake, stop being lazy and look up his age if you want to know how old he is. He's 22. He's playing at the same level Pedro Alvarez is playing, and he's also the same age as Pedro Alvarez. He is by no means too old for his level. Do your homework.

In back-to-back starts on April 22 and April 28 of this year, Brad Lincoln went a combined 10 innings, giving up 13 hits, 4 walks and 6 runs (5.40 ERA).

He must suck. Reaching conclusions on 1-2 starts is, after all, the way to go.

So he is supposed to be a top prospect we got in this bay deal...but he cant perform average against people that are his age? Wow that speaks a lot.

He just came back from injury. There are very few pitchers who do good in their first start or two back from injury. Even the top major league pitchers struggle. Look at Ervin Santana right now.
