This is the type of game you hope Maholm can be a stopper.

Well we are 2 and 5 against the Astros this season, and in most of those games it hasn't been Oswalt or Wandy. We keep losing to their pitchers that are just trying to cling onto a rotation spot. I know we face Wandy once. Is this the first time this season we have faced Oswalt?

Oswalt has pretty much owned the Pirates his whole career...Jack Wilson has some nice numbers off him though...

I know some don't like Freddy in the 3 hole. When I look at our team, he is the guy. Who else? Andy? No power there either (yet).

Adam is no 4 guy either but with our players there really is no choice.

Freddy will get plenty of hits and doubles to move them along if they get on.

Bottom half of the second much better.
Both LaRoche's get hits and Maholm and our man Andrew put us up 3-2.

Morgan playing 5 miles off the LF line..........can't run down a ball he would have got to if he was playing straight up. It resulted in a double. Astros have a runner in scoring position with 2 outs and Pence batting.

Two out and Pence up. He is hot tonight. JR goes out and talks to Maholm who was over 100 pitches. He let him stay in and he got Pence to fly out.

I like trusting your young stud to stay in the game.

We avoid going into the basement. Pirates are now 26-29 and the Astros are 24-30.

Capps did his job well.

Why replace Andy LaRoche in the 9th? I'm of the opinion that he plays pretty good third base. Did he hurt himself running to first in the 8th?
