Fist of all, is my topic title in the 3rd person?

Anyway, I realized this morning that I'm in a very weird situation with the Pirates right now. I've become too close to becoming very stale with the team. Amazingly, the addition of McCutchen gave me a huge shot of excitement. Here is a guy that looks the part of superstar. He's got the look, the youth, the talent, and the position to be huge. The Pirates haven't had a guy this marketable since Bonds. I'm not talking about selling a few jerseys in Pittsburgh, I'm talking the entire country.

What I'm saying here is I have pushed all my poker chips in the middle and am completely betting on this guy. I'm essentially betting that he is the savior for the Pirates. It is such a scary situation for me because if he goes down this is a faceless franchise once again and I'm not sure I can handle that. In my eyes, Andrew McCutchen is the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In the expectations game, I'm not sure you put the bar high enough. Do you also see a Halo around his head?

Truth is, I getting excited too. He's had but one game, maybe just a little pre-mature.

That's what I'm afraid of and that is what makes me so uneasy...

Yesterday's game was exciting and seeing McCutchen play well, made it more exciting...

The question to ask is: When was the last time there was a player that people got excited to see in a Pirate uniform make his debut?
