All bro/black outfield starting a game.

If and when Monroe starts nexts(which could be 2 night), that would give Nyjer, Andrew, and Craig,

I am going back in the memory banks, but it has to be sometime in the early 90's perhaps

Anyone know the answer, cause i am stumped on this one.

Would have probably been before we traded for Brian Giles.. '98? '99? We had J. Allensworth, Al Martin, Adrian Brown, Emil Brown..

They might've had a spot starting lineup like that, circa 2004. Not the regular starting lineup, but I wouldn't be surprised to check the 2004 game logs and see something like this:

LF- JJ Davis
CF- Tike Redman
RF- Daryle Ward

Obviously, that's not the primary, full-time, lineup. So you'd have to go back to 1998 when they had:

LF- Al Martin
CF Jermaine Allensworth
RF- Jose Guillen (but since Jose's from the Dominican, does he officially count?)

So maybe a 1995 lineup of:

LF-Al Martin
CF-Jacob Brumfield
RF- Dave Clark

Or 1996:
LF- Al Martin-
CF-Brumfield/Allensworth
RF-Midre Cummings/Dave Clark (although Merced was probably the primary RF that season).

How soon we forget, this past Saturday:

CF - Morgan
LF - Monroe
RF - Young

I didn't respond because I thought it was a pretty ridiculous question. There have been many over the years.

Yeah, i guess it turns out to be a dumb question, since the answer took place only 6 days ago.
Someone at work told me it was Bonds, Darnell coles, and Lloyd Mc clendon.
But if that was the starting lineup last saturday, then they were way off also.

That would have been VERY DIFFICULT, considering Coles played for Bucs from August of 87 until July of 88. At that time, Mac was playing for the Reds. He did not join the Bucs until 1990!

I mentioned someone at work text'd me and gave me those 3 names. I just didn't verify it, i just read it.

I guess i didn't realize it but the text might have read Cole, which is think is Alex Cole, who played in at least 1 of those playoff series against Atlanta.
So i am sure during the season that led into these playoffs, that outfield allignment may have been quite possible.
Again, stupid question on my part, i didn't realize , that if it's true, the starting lineup last week was chalk full of bro's.

But not as many as in the past. All over baseball, African American participation is way down. In the 70's black Americans accounted for roughly something like 15% of all baseball players. Today it is somewhere around 6%. 2 years ago, before I moved across state for love, when Ryan Howard won the MVP there was a really good piece in one of the newspapers about the reasons/causes for it and how lucky the Phillies were to have 2 star African American players. Ironic too for a franchise that was the last in the NL to integrate (but we Philadelphians were never as good at racism as the "liberal" thinking Bostonians!)

You're right there...it may have been Alex Cole. He played for Bucs in '92.
