assing it. If management is writing off 2009 and likely 2010, let's rebuild properly. Let's get Jack Wilson out of Pittsburgh. And Adam LaRoche too.

Who is going to play SS you ask? Does it really matter? There is no difference between the 85 loses we were head towards with Nate to the 95 loses were a destined for now without any offense to the 105 loses we would lock in playing a AA shortstop in Jack's place or a AAAA first baseman in Adam's place.

Let's off load Duke while we are at it. If Nate's value was never going to be higher, Duke's isnt either. He just manned up Johan Santana and has a ridiculous ERA. And he isnt likely to be around for a contender anyway.

Trade them all. We need more prospects right? It doesnt matter what is on the field in 2009 or realistically 2010. We need prospects. Send the entire 40 man out to the highest bidder and bring up Altoona.

Don't forget to build more facilities in the Dominican, so that we can develop more players to give away to the Red Sox, Yankees, Braves, and Angels..

...Like the good little minor league team that we are, right Bob?

Why not trade everyone? If we are losing with them, why not lose without them. Obviously management doesnt think the Pirates can win with the current players. So why not play with cheaper players and get more prospects. Plus if you cut another $20 million off payroll, you can sign more latin american prospects. You can never have enough prospects. If you can get 3 for Nate, how many prospect can you get for an entire major league 25 man roster?

You should always trade your best players at peak value. Duke's value hasn't been higher in 3 years. Adam is worth more in anticipation of his second half breakout than if he continues his flop in the second half. And truly can Jack Wilson play two weeks anymore without a bump, bruise or stomach virus that keeps out of the lineup. Did I mention you can never have enough prospects?
