We are 25-28 and only 6 games out in june. That sounds really good to me I would have thought this team would have done worse here is my prediction. Andrew McCutchen plays BETTER then nate and the pirates get red hot. They get to about 41-36 or better and they swap a deal to get a little bit of hitting help. Then we get to the playoffs and go out in the first round. Sounds good.

I think today's run production was a fluke and we will lose a lot more 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 type games. Absent Nate's bat, this trade will cost 5-10 loses this season.

Of course, I would probably agree with anyone that wants to argue when you are on pace for 80 or more loses with a player does it really matter if you get rid of them and lose another 5 or 10 games. There isnt much difference between 85 and 95 loses.

But play into the equation we are getting ryan doumit back sooner then later and he will be one of the best bats in our lineup.

Honestly, our catchers have been playing very well. Jaramillo and Diaz aren't too shabby.

But doumit is a power presence. Will he be availible when we get into interleague play? We could use him at DH.

Correct, and Doumit wont be back until around the all-star break, and that doesn't guarentee he will have the power he had before for awhile.

I'd like to see, if its possible, to keep all 3 catchers on the roster when Doumit returns...I hope that one of the backups are capable of playing another position to keep all three bats on the 25 man roster...

I wouldn't count on Doumit hitting very well for the rest of the season. It can take a whole year for hitters to recover from wrist injuries, especially in the power hitting department.
