Does Cutch immediately slide into the lead off spot? If so, where does Nyjer bat? 2nd? Or do you leave Nyjer in the 1 spot and ease Cutch in lower in the order?

1B - Adam LaRoche
RF - Moss

C - Jaramillo
SS - Wilson
P - Ohlendorf

I might be way off, but i just think McCutchen needs a good hitter like Freddy to hit infront of him to have opportunities to produce.

I can't see them putting the pressure of the third spot on him right away. Against lefties, I think he will bat higher in the lineup, maybe leadoff and move Morgan to the six spot. If anything, he might be in the 2 spot. That would give the Pirates lots of speed up top.

This was what i had then i changed it to Moss in between the LaRoche's, but i think McCutchen bats behind Freddy.

I went this route because JR seems to have a fetish for batting the LaRoche brothers back-to-back.

Anyone going to the game tomorrow? I'll be there in my normal seats and plan on taking a camera to document what will hopefully be the beginning of the next chapter in the improvement of this team.

Everybody thinks Cutch is some kind of savior.

I think we ought to trade him for some more prospects.

What would be the point in having him sit?

To pinch hit in a couple of games first. I perfer seeing call-ups earn their way into the starting line-up.

Pinch hitting is much harder than playing every day. McCutchen earned his way into the starting lineup when he started his tear in Indy.

Tomorrow's game against Mets:
LF - Morgan
CF - McCutchen
2B - Sanchez
1B - LaRoche
3B - LaRoche
RF - Moss
C - Jaramillo
SS - Wilson

To me, the more intriguing question is what the lineup will look like when Doumit returns. Who slides into the #7 slot? Moss? Do you insert Doumit into the #4 slot and move everyone down one?

I liked Nate as a player - a lot. Call me crazy but the lineup listed above does not strike me as being markedly weaker than what has been on the field since Doumit was injured. Despite what some claim, Nate was not one of the worst defensive center fielders in baseball. Far from it. But . . . McCutchen is better. So, the defense up the middle just got better.

I'm not ready to call it a "better" lineup but, as others have suggested, it has that potential.

You know what #9, I was thinking that too. Nate was hitting around .250 and his power numbers were during streaks. Let's see what McCuthceon can do.

Not like we were going to the playoffs this year anyway. And when Doumit comes back....

Let's Go Bucs

Small market johnnie probably looked at his STATs , and saw mc cutchen is batting 000 against Tim Redding.

With that in mind, he will probably start Delwyn Young or Hinske in the outfield, and have AM be the first pinch hitter off the bench.

I am glad to finally see Am get his shot, but for crying out loud, couldn't the team at least get 1 player in return that could immediately make the major league roster?.
Guess not, but we shall see how this trade pans out.

Never big on acquiring someone named Hernandez.
Besides Keith, when was the last guy with that last name a useful ml player?
If the team really wanted to deal Nate, i think there had to be a better offer than this one out there, don't you?.

And when Doumit returns, i think Huntington already has a deal in place to ship him to the Mets, for 3 more high ceiling prospects, so don't pencil him into the cleanup spot too long.

Morton started a good number of games for the Braves in 2008. I think 14 or 15 of them. He didn't do too good but that still makes him major league ready. I am also hoping Delwyn gets the start in atleast one of the games tomorrow.

Not sure where you got the information about multiple games tomorrow but there is only one game which will be played. I'll bet anyone willing $10,000 that Andrew McCutchen is in the starting line-up tomorrow.

I was assuming. There isn't a doubleheader tomorrow. When will we be making up the game with the Mets?
They don't come back to Pittsburgh this year.

July 2 is the make-up game.
