Wow. Two questions:

1. What three prospects did we get in return?

AND

2. Does this mark the beginning of the Andrew McCutchen era?

Regardless, 'tis a sad day for me. I really liked Nate. Good luck, Mighty Mouse...

Just got an email from a law clerk in my office indicating a trade went down . . . and now I see this. This one should have the naysayers out in full force.

It's for real. 100%

Check out Dejan's PBC blog on the Post-Gazette website for updates. I'm refreshing every 10 seconds or so.

Hey -- this is my first big scoop on this message board. Glad to break some news.

Anyway, does anyone want to take a stab at answering my pair of queries?

(N.B. -- No. 9, I'm a lawyer myself, practicing in D.C. It seems baseball attracts quite a few attorney fans.)

I'm already in full force. Nate didn't make enough and i guarentee we didn't get enough in return.

My initial thoughts:
1. Andrew McCutcheon is now your Pittsburgh Pirates' starting OFer.
2. I sure hope that the return is fantastic. I expect pitching.
3. Will it be over/under 5 minutes before the term "salary dump" appears on this Board.

Practically speechless right now. You can knock me over with a feather.

How do you know it is for 3 prospects? And I'm dying to know to what extent they are "prospects."

WOW. :|

This better be a great return...

Bay - Nate - Nady, pretty darn good outfield last year, all gone. This is sad.

I don't think this can be a salary dump because Nate didn't make Bay money.

Here's the return, according to Kovacevic:

"The return is two pitchers, Jeff Locke and Charlie Morton, and outfielder Gorkys Hernandez."

I'm looking up their information now...

There it is from the Braves site. It lists who we get and everything.

Gorkys Hernandez, a 21-year-old outfielder playing High A ball, was listed as the 8th best prospect in the Atlanta organization going into 2009. He has great speed and plays great defense according to what I read.

Jeff Locke, a 21-year-old left-handed pitcher also playing High A ball, was listed as the 10th best prospect in the Atlanta organization going into 2009.

Charlie Morton is a big, 25-year-old right-handed starting pitcher who spot-started for Atlanta last year. He's a power pitcher in the mold that Huntingdon seems to like. He would be a candidate to replace Snell as a starter, though.

Charlie Morton (the 25-year-old righthander) has been ripping it up in AAA this year. Check it out.

7-2 with a 2.51 ERA and 55 strikeouts to 16 walks. Get him up to Pittsburgh!

Damn. It would've been better if it was Diory.

Jeff Locke has been struggling in High A ball this year.

He still gets high ratings from scouts, though. Apparently he has a fairly high ceiling.
