Bay triples with no outs. He doesn't score, -- 2 Ks and a ground out. This must be 2007 all over again.

Ground hog Day re-visited!

Lead off triple by Bay and he doesn't score. We suck!

Just got home to see Bay lead off with a triple. LaRoche was destined to strike out swinging, I expected that. Nady's was disappointing but I guess he's due for a bad game after completely tearing up that Milwaukee series. Doug M, well, at least he made contact.

I didn't expect us to win this game. The Cubs own us (even at home), and Zambrano is on the mound, he's had nasty stuff this year. But their effort tonight is even worse than I imagined. I was hoping Duke could have at least kept us in the game, so much for that. We are due for the late comeback tonight, however much like most of the games we've played at Wrigley, I think it will be too little too late.

Wicked stuff by Burnett tonight! He comes in, gives up a double, single then HR, no outs.

See y'all. Off to do something less masochistic.

I was foolish to think we might possibly sweep this series. What would make me even entertain the notion that the Pittsburgh Pirates could get remotely close to respectability?

I am soooooo disgusted (I would type that in bold letters if I was smart enough to figure out how.. obviously I'm a fricking MORON for following a CRAP team for the last decade and a half!!)

We're gonna get swept.. our season is officially kaput if we lose all three games in this series but we have no chance with this pathetic starting pitching anyway. Here in Cleveland they know how to evaluate pitching.

I may take a week off from the Pirates to clear my head (after watching them on WGN tomorrow.)

I don't know why people are so upset, I completely predicted this. I mean, we're 1-8 against the Cubs this year, and now we're facing their best pitcher. If you don't expect much, the frustration level is slightly easier to deal with. I came home tonight just in time to catch: Bay lead off with a triple followed by 2 K's and a groundout to end the inning. Then Burnett comes in to give up a double, single, then HR before he gets an out. The Pirates = batting practice for the Cubs. If it wasn't for Nate pulling off his late-game HR heroics in that last series, we may have never won a game against them all season. At least we have been semi-competitive against other teams. But these games are a joke. We get buried so bad early that even when we come up with big plays like just now, McLouth with a 2-out triple to drive in 2 runs, we are 5 or 6 runs too short.

Shark, you're a realist! I'm impatient.. I want a winning record this year. Our starting pitching has really disappointed.

There was very little hope they'd be a winning record team...They need more than 5 people in the lineup that can hit, and steady starting pitching...And havent gotten either...plus add the errors this year...We should be lucky they are where they are right now...

I'm not giving up hope, but my bar is set low so I wont be that disappointed, but I am liking what I have seen so far from the front office and management...That's a sign the tides may be turning soon.

Ollie - no, no, I'm just being a realist about when we play the Cubs, and this series is one of 'em. I expect us to be competitive against other teams. And, well, for the most part, we have been. In 10 games against Chicago we have accounted for 1 in and 9 losses. That certainly does some considerable damage to the ole overall W/L column. Sad, but I'm not predicting that to change. 19 hits tonight? That is just an embarrassment. Like I said, truly a glorified batting practice are the Bucs to Chicago. The last series we played them I made a post saying how I am going to separate the series against the Cubs and the regular season. Tonight just makes me want to continue that.

Too bad Nate and Bay's triples weren't a foot or so higher. Then it would have only been 12-5! ;)

He just missed giving up a triple and we woulda' pitched for the cycle.

No foolin', but I actually flicked on the movie "Hostel". I hadn't seen it before, but it ended up being quite similar to this game.

Thanks. Have been reading the board for quite some time now dating back to last season, after the board crashed the last time I decided I should just create an account.
