This sucks. Snell sucks. I'll read Team of Rivals (about Lincoln) and leave TV on in case .......

Afraid i agree. If not maybe middle relief, but he is pitching no better than a Double-A pitcher. He has worse control than i did when i played in high school.

Snell's 5.64 ERA ranks 85th among the 93 pitchers with enough innings to qualify for the ERA title. He has not won in eight starts, since April 18, and has not lasted more than six innings in the past six starts. He has had plenty of chances, get someone else in the rotation !!!!!!!

Does he have any options? If not, what does that do to the possibilities?

If the Pirates are seriously interested in winning, they need to seriously think about removing Snell for the starting rotation.

Snell was awful. He allowed the Mets five runs in the first three innings. He was able to pitch through six innings, but that doesn’t redeem a performance that raised a shabby earned run average of 5.43 to 5.64.

On a rotation that has otherwise been highly commendable, Snell’s work is clearly deficient. This is a good chance for Huntington, who makes the call on which players stay and which players go, to send a clear message to Snell and to his teammates that such a level of work is unacceptable.

Snell either needs to be sent to the bullpen or demoted to Indianapolis. He’s had ample opportunity to show he’s worthy of a place in the rotation and has failed to do so.

I'm thinking of this a little differently. I think if the Pirates want to win they need to keep him in the rotation and figure it out. I know, sounds easy, right? :P He is such a different dynamic on the mound than the other Pirates starters. If he can "get it" and turn the corner this can be a very, very good rotation. That being said, it's a little difficult to watch him struggle out there right now (and for the past year and a half).

Who replaces Snell and can you reasonably expect that person to provide better results? Lincoln is not ready btw. Or is this just a lashing out at someone for the sake of lashing out? Me I keep Snell in the rotation, but then I guess that makes me an apologist.

I'm not sure on this one. I think Snell's leash is very short at this point. In addition to his mental make up, his control is awful right now(probably go hand in hand). I'd like to see Gorzo get a chance, however he needs to quit walking people too. When a starter walks 5 in 6 innings it makes it tough to win. Last night's game was the exception not the rule. Like Walk said in the pregame last night...the time for saying Snell has lots of potential is over. He has been around long enough that he needs to start demonstrating it. And if Walk said it.........

I don't think this is the time to start playing musical starters. Just MHO.

Snell has too much talent to send down.

He is maddening to watch with all the walks, but he still keeps the boys around close enough to have a chance.

Keep working, keep working. Not everyone develops along the same lines.

I agree! Let's just hope he doesn't turn into another Oliver Perez!
