When Doumit returns...

6. Brandon Moss, 1B
7. Delwyn Young, RF
8. Jack Wilson, SS

Eric (or anyone else) -
Does Moss have first base experience or is this suggestion based upon the notion that first base is one of the easiest positions to learn/acclimate? A notion with which I have a tendency to agree. I wouldn't necessary call it "easy" but, comparitively, it is easier than most, if not all, positions. If Moss is a viable alternative at first base (I want him in the lineup), I'd have Morgan in CF, Cutch in LF, Nate in RF and Delwyn on the bench.

If i was forced to go with the eight guys listed in that lineup, Young would be learning to play first. I wouldn't waste Moss there.

Excellent point! I think Young could be a very good hitter playing every day.

I think he'd be a decent hitter who would give back every run he created at the plate in the field. I like him better as a part timer and bat off of the bench.

No 9...just a question, why would you put Morgan in CF, Cutch in LF and Nate in RF? Isn't Cutch supposed to be the best of the three defensively??

Yes, you are right. Cutch is supposed to be the best of the 3 defensively and you raise an excellent point. My thought process was that LF at PNC is like CF in a lot of parks and Cutch will likely end up "fitting the mold" of a LFer rather than Morgan. After you raised the point, I'd probably flip Morgan/Cutch. And, for what its worth, I like McClouth's glove but teams would likely be able to exploit his arm in right field. Moss' arm in RF is an asset. Under ideal circumstances, I'd like to see a RFer with a better hose than McClouth's.
