Release Craig Monroe - he's not a bench player
Trade Adam LaRoche - he's never going to earn the $7 million, too inconsistent for a franchise trying to build a team.
Recall Andrew McCutchen to Majors
Promote Brad Lincoln and Brian Friday to AAA
Promote Pedro Alvarez to AA

When Doumit returns...
1. Andrew McCutchen, CF
2. Nate McLouth, LF
3. Freddy Sanchez, 2B
4. Ryan Doumit, C
5. Andy LaRoche, 3B
6. Brandon Moss, 1B
7. Delwyn Young, RF
8. Jack Wilson, SS

All I know is this team is weak offensively, getting terrible defense in center, and virtually nothing from their first baseman. They've forced McLouth into something he's not capable of being (a run producer) and he should be in the 1-2 spot in the lineup trying to work the count and get on base. He's not a 3-4 hitter.

Pirates are better off giving Adam LaRoche's at-bats to Delwyn Young by moving Moss to 1B. This team should be trying to build something for 2011 and that roster won't have the name Adam LaRoche on it. He's a good guy but good guys mean nothing when you are hitting .229 with a weak 22 RBI.

Based on one game, I think Bantam LaRoche looked pretty good in the #2 hole.

Can't believe this kid is hitting over .300 now after that atrocious start.

Andy L needs to stay in the 2nd slot for a while to see.

Morgan needs to sit for a while cuz he's not hitting and showed that he is shakey in CF. I don't care who leads off but try Nate again.

Catcher is interesting to me. Doumit is proven and we really need his hitting especially power to return. But I also like both the young guys who are platooning now. Both look like they are major league ready now. What to do with them? Can either play another position? Should we consider moving Doumit to first and trading Adam L? Can we or shoould we keep three catchers? Send one down seems wrong. Thoughts????

Wow, now I see Morgan is sitting today. First move Andy up and then sit Morgan. JR must be reading my mind. I've never been right with him in two moves in two days.

Be very careful, the end is very near.

Yes, I'll take full credit if these two moves turn out wrong.

Yeah, about that. He's slugging a hair under .500 (on pace to hit 50+ doubles) since his horrible start and is getting on base at a 380 clip. You chose the wrong guy to prove a point.

If Laroche had 15 homers and was hitting .235, his post would have said:

"Hitting .235"

"Two"

"Thirty"

"Five".

I'll take an .811 OPS, no matter how the guy gets it.

You have a fetish for broadcasters, don't you?

If anybody thinks Andrew McCutchen is major league ready, then they don't know the difference between the minors and the pros.

McLouth hasn't been terrible in center and he's in the top 20 in RBI. Tied with Ryan Braun and ahead of C.Lee, Berkman, and David Wright. That's with missing a week.

First off, McCutchen has not proven he is better than either McLouth, Morgan, Moss, OR Delwyn Young.

I like Adam LaRoche. He is off to a better start than usual, and by the end of the year, his production will be there, but I would not be opposed to moving him. Just tell me who would be a better option at this point? Not Moss or Young at this point. Eventually, I see either Andy L, or Walker, or Pedro there. But not now.

Monroe has not done real great off the bench, but I would rather have him there than McCutchen.

Eric (or anyone else) -
Does Moss have first base experience or is this suggestion based upon the notion that first base is one of the easiest positions to learn/acclimate? A notion with which I have a tendency to agree. I wouldn't necessary call it "easy" but, comparitively, it is easier than most, if not all, positions. If Moss is a viable alternative at first base (I want him in the lineup), I'd have Morgan in CF, Cutch in LF, Nate in RF and Delwyn on the bench.

Moss played a little 1b...41 games in AAA in 2007 and 2008, while the Red Sox were trying to figure a way to get him more playing time. He played 2 games at 1b last year for Boston.

No 9...just a question, why would you put Morgan in CF, Cutch in LF and Nate in RF? Isn't Cutch supposed to be the best of the three defensively??
