Building on my prediction of winning 2 of 3 against the Astros . . . (a sweep by the Bucs and Cecil Cooper is done) . . .

Here we go for June:

Mets at home: 2-2
Astros on road: 2-1
Braves on road: 2-2
Tigers at home: 2-1
Twins on road: 1-2
Rockies on road: 1-2
Indians at home: 2-1
Royals at home: 2-1 (3-0 if Greinke doesn't pitch)
Cubs at home: 1-1
TOTAL - 15-13 (16-12 if Greinke doesn't pitch)
RECORD at end of JUNE: 27-29 (28-28 if Greinke doesn't pitch)

After June, there is an interesting 10 game stretch going into the All Star Game:
1 game at home with the Cubs on 7/1
Then 9 straight on the road -
3 at Florida (remember when the Marlins were 11-2; they are 11-24 since that time)
3 at Houston
3 at Philadelphia

The Bucs have stunk it up on the road this year but those last nine games include 6 on the road against two of the worst teams in the NL over the last month. A winning road trip going into the All Star Break is not inconceivable.

All in all, I'll predict that the much ballyhooed 17 straight losing season will NOT be a foregone conclusion by the end of June.

I'm actually thrilled with the record the team has now...It could be better, but could be alot worse...

a 5-5 road trip is good, could have possibly gotten 2 more wins...

This team is keeping it close in every game, there really have been few blowout losses this season and all this without Doumit, and missed time from Jack, Nate, and Capps...

I read some of the articles from the link Dejan posted to the Houston Chronicle's Astro page...

The fans arent happy with the owner, the GM, and the manager...Where does that sound familiar? Its nice to see it happening to someone else for a change and hope the Pirates can stick it to these guys this weekend, their probables are Moehler (8.31 ERA, 1.44 WHIP), Rodriguez and Hampton vs Ohlendorf, Karstens, and Maholm

Wandy has been a boon to my fantasy team. He may strike out 10+ Pirates. Hampton looked like Warren Spahn last time we faced him. Moehler is a definite boner.

Before you get too euphoric over the prospect of being close to 500 at the end of June, let me remind you that we were 30-30 in June a few years ago (maybe '06). That season promptly went in the toilet.

And we had Bay and I think Nady as well. Without them it is doubtful we can win anymore games this season.

Now for my prediction fro June.

I said 14-16 in May and was also incorrect in that we play only 29 games in May. So, we are 10-16 now but with a sweep now we will be 13-16 in May.

For June I see it optimistically at 15-13 although I'm getting concerned the some of our starters are beginning to look weaker lately. Main worry is Maholm and as always Snell.

WOW!!

That'll make for one hell of a losing record over the season!

My June Predictions:

Mets (home) 2-2
Astros (away) 2-1
Braves (away) 2-2
Tigers (home) 1-2
Twins (away) 1-2
Rockies (away) 2-1
Indians (home) 2-1
Royals (home) 3-0
Cubs (home) 0-1

June Totals: 15-12

It looks like the numbers have come out a bit better than I expected for the month. There are a couple of series where I feel like it could go either way (Indians, Twins, Royals). It seems like I've said this numerous times this season, but there are several make or break series in this upcoming month.

I predict that Danny and a few of his buddies are so obsessed by me, that they'll spend lots of time and energy trying to insult me, on a post that was not started by me, was not responded to by me, and wasn't about me!

Sincerely, Rod.

Well if your the real Rod Serling you died in 1975. I don't know what you could be doing to make $5,000 in a couple of minutes. I think i make about $5,000 a month :?

Here are my fearless June predictions.

Mets at home: 1-3
Astros on road: 2-1
Braves on road: 2-2
Tigers at home: 1-2
Twins on road: 0-3
Rockies on road: 2-1
Indians at home: 1-2
Royals at home: 2-1
Cubs at home: 0-2

June record 11-17 ouch
Record at the end of June assuming we split the final 2 with the Astros in May will be 33-45. 12 games under .500
I think June could be a bad month for the Buccos. I have us winning 3 series', tieing 1, and losing 5.
I hope i'm wrong but i'm worried.

sumbitch...I always mess this up.

My June Predictions:

Mets (home) 2-2
Astros (away) 2-1
Braves (away) 2-2
Tigers (home) 1-2
Twins (away) 1-2
Rockies (away) 2-1
Indians (home) 2-1
Royals (home) 1-2
Cubs (home) 0-2

June Totals: 13-15

And after giving it more though, I think we're going to experience similar embarassment to the Royals that we did a couple of years ago in KC. If we can take 2 of 3 against the Yankees, why can't we beat some of these weaker teams?

This team almost always puts itself in a position to suck in June, this year will be no different with the pop-gun offense and starting pitching to come back to Earth.
