Dang, if only Diaz batted lefty, JR would have his ultimate weapon, the L-R-L-R-L-R-L-R line-up. Am I the only one who would rather see Young in RF? Dump Monroe, move the LaRoches up one in the order, bat Young and Diaz 6th and 7th, any order.

I am really hoping that Pirates pitching can shut down this line-up for at least on game of this series. It was great to start it off with a win at Wrigley last night but 8 ER? Quite frankly, this is the worst Cubbies line-up I recall seeing in quite some. THAT Ryan Freel, former Reds bench utility player, the starting third basemen while Aramis is out? Even though the Cubs are due after the awful losing skid they're on and despite our "recent" record against them over the last few years, this is a very winnable series.

They finally stopped Freddy. He hits his seventh in a row before making an out.

I think Ian Snell needs a reality check. Does he have any options left? Sending him down might wake him up. The walks killed him this game.

Ugly effort. Need a big one by Duke tomorrow. There is a part of me that hopes the skies open up and the game is called due to rain so that the Bucs don't have to expend 4 innings of bullpen pitching tonight.

Maybe some time in the pen, with Gorzzy taking his spot in the rotation??

Mr. Snell needs to be sent a strong message. I would love to have him bumped off the starting rotation.....but who do you replace him with? :?

Could Gorzzy do any worse?

Could Gorzzy do any worse?

Yes. See last year.

That was last year. Time to see what happens this year. Snell is downright terrible, and seems to have no clue. His head is an absolute mess. He has been this way for some time. Maybe Gorzo has figured some things out, maybe not. But it probably is time to find out. Snell has been given a fairly long rope, and he is wrapping it tightly around his neck at this point. This is a year to find out about as many players as you can. This would give them another look at Gorzo, and a chance to see if anyone, and I mean ANYONE, can get Snell's head right.

I don't know how hard it would be to find, but i am sure Snell is the worst at giving up 2 out walks, hits, and runs, in the majors.

He doesn't have the killer pitch like he used to , or maybe guys just have a good read on him now.
I think he could /should be packaged now, trade value meter non with standing.
Him and Nyjer to the White sox for that short stop Ramirez,

Then turn around and trade Jack Wilson to a contender that needs a short stop( cards, red sox, twins, to name a few , for a major league ready starting pitcher.
I would be more than willing to package JW and La roche as a package, but i know the value of these 2 are not at an all time hight at this moment.
Just hope when these guys do get moved (la roche and Wilson) they get at least 1 pitcher in return that could step in and be a fixture in the starting rotation for awhile.

I think it is just time to realize that Snell, for what ever reason , isn't going to be a winning pitcher for this team.
Time for some other team to attempt to work on his potential.

You realize he is the only starting pitcher on the team that has actually gotten worse since Kerrigan has taken over?.

I agree...can't get much worse than 1-6.

2009 Ian Snell <= 1985 Jose DeLeon

And I will remind you...DeLeon went 2-19 that season.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Snell kept throwing his fastball to lefties that was tailing away from them. If he started it on the corner, it tailed outside and they took it for a ball. If he started it down the middle, it tailed to the corner and they raked it into left or center. They were teeing off, knowing what was coming. When he went with offspeed pitches, he had much better success.

He still has good stuff. He absolutely must throw the fastball inside to be successful. And he needs to use his offspeed stuff more often.

Snell has control problems and he won't get any better until he works out whatever mechanical fault is causing them. He's missing the catchers mitt by a foot sometimes. I'm sure he and Kerrigan are going over game footage with a microscope.

I believe, If your dumping Monroe you might as well dump both Laroche's while you are at it. Play Hinske at 1st give him a chance .
