I'm liking Chavez in the closers role. With Capps possibly on the DL, we may get to see Gorzo for a couple more weeks. Im not hating him out of the pen either.

From the Dejan's chat on the Post-Gazette today, it sounds like Grabow is the closer for now...

Its going to be interesting with Meek and Chavez getting more of a role, and I'm guessing Burnett will be the lefty specialist...

I think Chavez has been a pleasant surprise this season, he'd be a great closer, in my opinion. I honestly would have expected Meek to get the nod as closer, but if DK is saying that it's going to be Grabow, then it is what it is.

Telephone Ring Ring..

"Hello Mrs Torres?? Is Solomon there? Would he like to come out and play?"

I see a bullpen by committed rotation.

Now THAT'S funny.

I think you can look at it a couple of ways. In the long run, Chavez should probably be closing as I think he's got the best chance of being the Pirate's future closer. But if the Pirates really want to win games now, I think Grabow may be the safest route. It also could increase his trade value should he be successful.

Chavez is really the only real option, and he seems semi-deserving due to his efforts this year, so why not.

Giving that job to Meek would be suicide with his BBs.

I know you didnt. Somebody did. Just having a little fun!

I brought this up because I believe that the trade of Torres was one of the worst in Pirate history.

He went on to have a very good year, 28 saves, and help Milwaukee get into playoffs while Kevin Roberts and Marino Salas didn't!

At this point...I'd just as soon see Snell in the pen and Gorzo starting.
