Tirico: "It is nice to see the Pirates close to .500. I find myself rooting for them."
Van Pelt: "I root for them because Pittsburgh is such a great sports town. When I covered the U.S. Open at Oakmont, I went to a game at PNC Field; it was beautiful." (emphasis added)

Some have clamored for more attention from the national media outlets. Too bad Scott Van Pelt doesn't know the proper name of the ball park. Ironically, this dialogue occurred less than 1/2 hour after they were making fun of Jeff Gordon for singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" at a Cub game and referring to the ballpark as "Wrigley Stadium."

Perhaps those who live in glass houses . . .

Mr. T was pretty funny yesterday. What a lucky guy. He has taken a victory in the "best bouncer contest" (an early television reality show, which included midget tossing as part of the competition) and parlayed that into a remarkable career.

If there is someone out there who can take the "I pity the Pirates" sound bite and make a ring tone out of it, I would be eternally grateful.

Capps' injury threw a huge wet blanket on yesterday's game ... I am still bummed about the injury. Buccos are going to have to battle through it. Too bad, since the victory was enjoyable for so many reasons - Freddy going 6-6, Andy with 3 hits, McLouth with the big bomg, Adam with two solid hits, the pen coming through.

If I am not correct, didn't Mr. T win a long, wrenching battle with cancer or some other hideous life-threatener?

I always liked T because he didn't think he was Laurence Olivier and enjoyed his fame, without getting to big headed or too serious about it.

Lennon/McCartney, Difford/Tilbrook, and T./T.

Ice T. and Mr. T defined a generation with their oft imitated yet never equaled homage to "doing the right thing". Sorry Spike Lee, you were a poor man's amalgamation of the greatness that was T. and T.

Witness the genius of "Treat Your Mother Right (Treat Her Right)". You can thank me later:

Back to the original topic (Van Pelt quote/misquote):

There is a PNC Field in Scranton. Yankees AAA team plays there. Probably Googled PNC and didn't realize what he got. Just brain-dead.
