Hope he stays with the same as the last two games. Possibly put JJ at catcher to rest RD. Chances are that he will continue his pattern of playing other people to keep everyone sharp. I think we need to stay with the present guys to help continue some continuity and winning.

I've disagreed with him other times- like last night. Ohlondorf should of stayed for another inning. But the relievers did a good job and maybe got back some needed confidence. Maybe he knows what he's doing.

That's why I get to criticize and JR gets to make the decisions. When it doesn't work, I look like I know what I'm talking about but don't have to prove. His work is right there for all of us to judge.

How would you grade him as manager?

I've been critical of Russell for a few things, like letting Snell throw 131 pitches, and playing Bixler when he knew he couldn't hit a baseball. But overall he is ok. I'm not ready to say he is the right guy for the long term.

I like him overall. Has a great demeanor for a team. I'll be interested to see what he can do when he has more talent.

When will that be? I don't think it's fair to grade any Pirates manager considering the talent they've had since '93.

I dont know, Jim Tracy was a lousy manager regardless of the talent...

I agree. I was always a McClendon fan and thought he did pretty well with nothing. Most disagreed. But the point about talent is valid. Good talent will make managers look good...plain and simple....even Tracy!

As long as the rivers flow, buffalo eat grass, and birds crap on my car, people will hold that when winning the talent is great, when losing it's poor coaching in all sports.

The surest of those three happenings is the bird one, especially after a car wash.

Being a former wrestling coach in jr high and on the high school levels, I can attest to that...

Me too Dan-- coached football and wrestling in HS. Aren't moms and dads fun to have around?

I found the dads to be better to deal with than the moms...

Of course when I was coaching Varsity High School wrestling, it was in a small town in Montana...

I had tons of pressure from everyone...It was like Hoosiers except it was wrestling instead of basketball...
