It would seem if Karstens doesn't get out of his recent funk that Gorzo could be inserted. He had another pretty good outing last night. ! BB I believe and 1 run in 5 plus. The walks and pitching counts are the key.

The box score from the game: http://indianapolis.indians.milb.com/mi ... a_rocaaa_1

I agree with you that walks and pitch counts are important facts.
From the box score:
2 walks
102 pitches in 5.2 IP. Of the 102 pitches, 68 were strikes. If my math is correct, that is a 2:1 strike-to-ball ratio.
Of further interest:
25 batters faced in 5.2 innings. That is nearly 4.5 batters per inning.
4 strike outs; 6 ground outs; 7 fly outs.

BTW, McCutcheon had two hits from the lead off spot, including a triple and Walker had two hits as well.

Walker had a .958 OPS in his last ten games. Nice to see him come out of his early season funk.

I don't know- if you can only get through 5.2 innings before hitting the 100 pitch mark, you're not very efficient. That stat looks an awful lot like last year. Yes, it was a decent ball-strike ratio, but I guess he gets penalized because they couldn't put his strikes in play.

100 pitches in 5 or 6 innings was the same problem he had in Pittsburgh in 07 and 08...He has never been able to finish off a hitter and ended up throwing more pitches than needed...
