Don't ask why, but I stumbled across the Newark Bears roster...of the independent Atlantic League. Quite a few familiar faces on the team. Former Pirates Abraham Nunez, Rob Mackowiak, Bobby Hill, and Shawn Chacon all populate that roster (also Kevin Thompson, Carl Everett, Keith Foulke, Jay Gibbons)

Cue Rod Serling suggesting that Brandon Moss go play for Newark in 3...2...1...

Wow...I'm not sure the Pirates would beat them right now. Chacon would go 7 scoreless easy.

Chacon would improve the bullpen, I suspect. Last time we saw him pitching, he could go 95 mph with some control.

Well there is the list of players that i was wondering where they went. The independent league must have some other known faces also besides just the Bears. I'm going to have to look into it and see who all i forgot ever played in the majors, and take a trip down memory lane.

I'm guessing that there are few posters/lurkers here who would advocate signing Chacon as a reliever. 95 mph, throws strikes and not afraid to choke Huntington or Coonelly to death.

LOL!

Attacking the GM might be #1 on the list of bad career moves.

unless the GM's name is Dave Littlefield and just passed over a power hitting catcher for a relief pitcher in the draft than traded for a broken down starter with a $10 million contract...
