On a balmy 102 degree day, PV dropped a 6-2 decision to Scottsdale CC yesterday. The team just could not generate any offense with one of their runs scoring on a wild pitch. Coach made a big blunder in the eyes of the fans. The number 1 starter complained of some elbow pain. Instead of pushing up the number 2 and 3 starters on day, which is not a big deal when there is a week between starts, the coach decided to start a pitcher who had not pitched more than 2 innings since early March. He had success early in the game but faltered in the 5th and the bullpen was called upon 4 times the rest of the game. Now we have other 2 starters set up for games 2 and 3 but if we lose today, there is no game 3. Reminds me of when Casey Stengel started Jim Coates in the '60 World Series instead of Whitey Ford. No. 1 son is very discouraged at being passed over not only to start but saw no action out of the bullpen thus far. Explanation? They thought the junk ball lefty who started would have more success against the Scottsdale team than a fastball pitcher. Well, ok, but why not start your two starters in games 1 and 2 and then see what happens for game 3. Big mistake that backfired. IT doesn't look good for a trip to Oklahoma.

Number 1 is out; numbers 2 and 3 are set to go. So, the decision is to throw number 4.

Geniousity, I tell 'ya, pure geniousity.
