Quote:
Ramirez is expected to attribute the test results to medication received from a doctor for a personal medical issue, according to a source familiar with matter but not authorized to speak publicly.

With the suspension taking effect with tonight's game at Dodger Stadium, Ramirez will not be eligible to return to the team until July 3.

Too bad his motives were less than savory.

I don't mind that at all. He is the one looking good in this and the superstars that he has outed have all been busted.

In reading an article about the Manny suspension it mentions Humberto Cota got suspended 50 games last season. I didn't know that.

Could you have imagined him here in Pittsburgh not on the juice?

Maybe he got a bad batch?

I didn't either. Well, that explains the two doubles he had.

You younger fans missed great times in this sport.. for me it was baseball in the seventies.. others recall earlier eras. The game was real then. Players were devoted to their teams and fans. Yeah, you had Gaylord Perry doctoring the ball, Dock Ellis pitching on LSD.. but the game was innocent for the most part.

No worries about pitch count. Larry Demery probably did throw 170 pitches in the games he pitched (his career was over at age 24) but so did Nolan Ryan and Steve Carlton and Wilbur Wood.. Jim Kaat threw 300 innings at age 36, Phil Niekro over 340 innings at age 40 (Tim Wakefield could probably do that too.) These men weren't using anything to enhance their performance.

I've tolerated this sport with no salary cap, been jeered at by Pittsburgh haters at the work place.. Yes, Pirates ownership has been terrible but I am telling you the Pirates don't go sixteen straight losing seasons with a salary cap in place.

This steroid sh*t is the last straw. We can't trust anyone. I want to think that players like Ken Griffey Jr. and Jim Thome are clean, too.. but in this era you simply don't know for sure if anyone cheated and MLB doesn't care. The game is tainted. There should be zero tolerance for this stuff.

I wish I could give up MLB altogether someday. It's not the national past time. It's a business and the players approach it that way. What the heck.. starting today I'm boycotting (er.. after I go to my annual Tribe freebie game courtesy of wife's employer.)
