Terrible decision by Russell to let Maholm pitch to Cameron in the 7th. Down 2-0, runner on first, Maholm had already thrown 110 pitches, 3 right handed middle relievers in the bullpen. Absolutely nothing to be gained by that.

And why the hell is Bautista batting in the 2 hole? WTF?

As much as I like Coonelly and Huntington so far, I am really not sure about the manager.

Apparently No. 9 has been whispering into Russell's ear. ;)

Look, the simple fact is this: With Doumit and Jack hurt, the lineup is not good.

Russell thinks, "No Doumit . . . No Wilson. What the hell. Leftie on the mound. In years past, Bautista could hit lefties, so put Bautista second to break up the skein of stinkos at the bottom of the order."

If Doumit and Jack are available and in the order, Bautista is not hitting second.

How do we know this? Look at the lineup on opening day!!!

Moving a bad hitter to the top of the lineup just to avoid having him at the bottom of the lineup cannot possibly improve the lineup; it can only make it worse.

Agreed, and no amount of "protection" can justify such a move.
