Walk the first two batters in the 6th. JR took him out -- had no choice. Last night Maholm had similar situation. One full count, one walk. About the same number of pitches. JR took him out as well. Last night not JR's fault nor is tonight.

Totally different. Snell did have good stuff all night, Maholm did.

Ian Snell's performance tonight is the reason you take out Maholm from last night's game. There is no way Snell's poor performance isn't related to his high pitch count during his last outing.

Snell threw some stuff around in the dugout when he left the game.

Is it time to activate the Indy express yet? Not with Snell, but with others?

7 walks in 5 and 1/3. Five were Snell's.

you just can't expect to win with that. The Pirates are in deep do-do since we left San Diego-- was that more then a month ago?

No.

But it IS time to trade Nate McLouth, Jack Wilson, and Adam LaRoche,

for,

"Quality Depth".

That was the difference between Maholm last night and Snell tonight, and why i still think Maholm should have been allowed to pitch the 8th.

Actually, he was throwing stuff at John Russell for taking him out. Fortunately, with his control, he didn't come close to hitting him.

You know how to make it better? Post the same goddamn message in every thread. That will certainly change the way the team is run.

We get your point. Can we move on, or do you have nothing else worthwhile to say?

Not sure if someone else did or not, but I didn't accuse JR of losing the game two nights ago. But to compare these two decisions is ridiculous. Snell was lousy or close to it most of the night, while Maholm was in full control. THAT is why I questioned JR for taking out Maholm. Also he is your ace. Snell is certainly not.

As for the temper tantrum....go figure. Exactly why giving long term contracts is a difficult decision for a team like the Pirates. When a signing doesn't pan out it is magnified. It is starting to look like Snell is not going to ever get much better. Mainly because he is a head case. Probably the reason they should've thought twice about this signing, although I can't really fault them on this one. It stinks he is such a baby and can't get his head on straight.

After the last year or so, I've been tempted to add "he got Snelled out there, tonight" to my list of Crappy Baseball Cliches.

A pitcher goes about 5 innings, walks 5 or more and gives up 5 runs or more. "Ugh. He's getting Snelled out there"
