After sweeping No. 10 Scottsdale CC, PVCC moves into 10th place in the most recent national poll. Playoffs start Thursday at 3 pm with a best of 3 series against ;Mesa CC. Winner playes next Thursday against the winner of the Scottsdale CC/Glendale CC best of three series. It is also best of 3. Winner of that goes to Enid, Oklahoma for the national tourny starting May 23 and running until May 30. Not bad for a first year program. Go Pumas!

Nice ... very impressive. Congrats to No. 1 for playing a key role in the inaugural campaign.

No. 1 is a little bummed out. He was moved to the bullpen for the playoffs. They don't need four starters. He is nervous becasue he hasn't pitched in relief in a couple of years and he is worried about the "not knowing when you are going to pitch" situation. And the fact that he is a slow starter. I told him he just needs to be ready at all times now and do what it takes to get to OK. In OK they cannot make it through the tourny with 3 starters. They could play up to 5 or 6 games in a week.

Thx for asking, Dan. Very nice of you to inquire.

Son is doing well. Pitched in 2 games last week, went 4 1/3 innings combined, 1 ER. Team is struggling a tad ... lost the second game son entered. He came in in the 4th inning, with score 2-1 bad guys, runners 1st and 3rd, two out. Threw strike 3 to the first hitter. Umpire did not call it.

Guy then dumped one into shallow right. 3-1, bad guys.

Team rallied back to 3-2. Son pitched into the 7th, gave up a leadoff double. Removed from game. Reliever then gives up walks, hits, WP, and game turns into a 5-2 loss. Son went 3 1/3, charged with one run (the double).

Aluminum bats are a joke. Son jammed one tall kid with a fastball that tailed into the kids hands. He hits it off the handle, literally 3" from his hands. Wood bat = broken bat. Aluminum = wobbly single that meanders into center field between two infielders.

I now officially hate aluminum bats.

Aluminum bats...............I am with you Bucfan. If PV makes it to OK, they will switch to the dreaded metal.

I forgot, you guys use wood during the regular season. Very nice. Wood bats are a much more fair way to measure performance.

And PVCC hitters will have an advantage over teams that have used metal bats all year. Meanwhile, No. 1 is going to re-visit the reasons why pitchers hate aluminum bats.

Aluminum and Metal bats are the worst invention to the game..the young kids don't get a real gauge on how good they are and fall into "power happy" bad habits..

I used a wood bat instead of the pingers in Legion...I would use the metal for batting practice to save my wood

Saving wood. Dan sounds like an environmentalist, or a wood lover. Maybe both.
