New York Times reports that the deal with our Buccos doesn't look too good now.

Thanks for the link. My favorite lines.........

Quote:
In the offseason, the Yanks seriously considered dealing Nady, but GM Brian Cashman said no suitable return was ever offered.

They re-signed him [Marte], which now looks like the worst choice.

I love this little gem by an anonymous GM:

Quote:
This is where the incredible disparity between the AL East and the NL Central comes into play. Frankly, the disparity explains a lot of why Nady and Marte haven't met expectations. You can question the Yankees' evaluation of Nady/Marte, but you can't question what they gave up.

It's amazing to me how some GM's retain their jobs. I mean, using Nady and Marte to prove there is a disparity between leagues? C'mon. I'm not saying there isn't either, only that this is a bad litmus test.

Yet, you havent heard anything from Boston about Jason Bay not performing as well as he did in a Pirate uniform...

Good point. Bay's actually performing better so far.

Heh. That's true. I must say I had my doubts about how JBay would handle the bright lights of Boston. He's come through better than anyone could have expected. Good for him! Of course, it must be taken into account that he's facing the AL East now, not the heavyweights in the NL Central. ;)

I am happy for Bay, mainly because there were many skeptics who said that Bay was only good because he played in Pittsburgh. I's nice to see him start to erase the memory of Ramirez.
