No question that JR simply said that we'll give up this game and go after the Brewers. Not only the injuries but to also rest Freddie while facing Peavy looks like a game we'll all want to forget.

I don't think that was the case at all. Other than giving Freddy the day off, this is the lineup you would expect given the circumstances. No reason to think that he wasn't trying to win.

Peavy had an ERA over 5.00 coming in, so while I was afraid he might blow us away, I also felt we had a fighting chance. His stuff is still nasty, he just doesn't have the control right now that he used to have.

And how about the fundamentals?

Wehner pointed out how Vasquez set himself properly to cut off Hinske's throw from right to nail the guy at 3rd. Instead of having his back to the target, you are supposed to have one shoulder facing it, so you have to do is make the switch and throw the ball.

Good fundamentals!

Do you think Nate will be playing in the first game against the Brewers?

guess adam checked the pirates team stats and disliked the walks and home runs..

Seriously. This guy has been a major bust.....

I would say HAD been, until this year. Right now, he has to be one of the top 5 productive 1st baseman in the majors, based on the early 2009 results.
You think Atlanta would trade back Gonzales for La roche right now?. Bobby Cox would crap all over his depends if that was offered.

Well by the numbers i think he is 12th overall in baseball and 6th in the national league for first basemen.

Apparently you didn't catch my sarcasm. Should have used a smiley....
