1. There is an inverse relationship between Pirate winning and complaining fandom.
2. There is a direct relationship of number of members and volumn of comments with winning.

Conclusion: let's keep winning as everyone seems to like that more

In my experience there is a greater volume of posts when the team is losing (most of the time) than when they (occasionally) win. I base that on a ten-year sample.

Ah, Bertie is learning the value of large sample sizes.

This is true in every walk of life. People like to b!tch. No one calls city hall to tell them what a fabulous job the garbage man is doing.

Actually, I know something about that garbage man thing. I was for eight years a councilman in the city of Wheeling. Haven't told you guys about that because I can't do favors for anyone period. Your kids won't be able to find work through me. Sorry.

However, one of the most memorable phone calls I got, and please believe I got a lot of them, dealt with the trah collection. An unidentified older woman called to complain that while she was home only one week of the month, she was still charged the $10.00 and wanted to pay only for the portion of the month she actually used the service. When I explained that to keep track would mean more employees and that would mean a higher charge for everyone and result in costing her more, she reponded by saying" Mr. Councilman, how much does it cost to wash one of those trucks, because I'm going to egg one this week." While that amount of dirt on the truck would not even be identifiable at the end of the day, I feel certain she did what she said she would do and I... I lost her vote.

Sorry, know it's not baseball but I couldn't resist that story.

Reason #1,241 why Argentum could never run for public office. I couldn't stand pandering to complete morons.
