Waiting for Snell to do some damage control. As I type, he catches a hard line drive up the middle for the third out. Not ready to call him Ian Smell this game yet instead of Ian Snell......... :?

Some offense now please!

Weird game. 6th innings, Pirates have two hits both by Snell.

Two different strike zones tonight. Small one for Snell. Bigger one for Correia. Starting to really p__s me off.

Pirate hitters look overmatched against Correia, an eminently mediocre pitcher. Missing Doumit and McLouth is really hurting ... seriously.

Buccos start a rally - walk and double. Hinske freaking crushed the ball and it died on the fence. Amazing that it stayed in the park.

Huge break on Giles' failure to squeeze that. So help me God if Moss doesn't put the ball in play and strikes out here. I'll wake up everyone in my neighborhood with a blood curdling scream.

Andy ties it up with a line drive single to center. He also crushed a ball right at the CF'er and walked today. He has had 3 good at bats.

Go Buccos, you tied it up.

Jaramillo smokes a single to right. He just crushed that ball. Bottom of the Buccos line-up is doing the job.

So I say to myself . . . "walk Nyjer intentionally? Really?" Then I watch Jack's AB and fully understand . . . ugly U-G-L-Y.

Evan Meek . . . put the foot locker away. Jesse Chavez isn't going anywhere for a while. Looking good and here come 3-4-5 followed by 6-7-8!!!

Jesse Chavez dealing ... the MPH register goes red when pitches are faster than 95 mph. Every pitch that inning was in the red.

Chavez fanned Edgar Gonzalez on a 2-2 fastball, knee-high, corner at 97 mph but the umpire gagged the call and called it a ball. The pitch was perfect and was a strike. No matter. Chavez blows a 3-2 fastball by him at 96 mph.

Very impressive inning. One thing I notice quite a bit in major league games - the players bail the umpire out of terrible calls. Blown call on a play at first, blown call on strike three - the pitcher or defense will step up and get another out and take the umpire off the hook.

The blue blew the strike 3 call and Chavez bailed him out on the next pitch.
